encourages students to apply for DACA benefits
Congresswoman Judy Chu, a member
of the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives, will be joining
leaders of the Central American community
to encourage students to apply for
the benefits of the Deferred Action Children Arrivals (DACA) through the
community based organizations that serve the Central American
community.
The organizations El Rescate, Casa
Nicaragua,
the Honduran Alliance of Los
Angeles and the National Central
American Roundtable are participating in the
efforts to offer legal clinics and
educational forums to enable beneficiaries to apply for
the 2-year period to have their
deportation stayed and to be able to have a work authorization,
driver’s license and to have the
opportunity to renew this benefits in two years.
Since taking position of her 32nd
Congressional District, Congresswoman Judy Chu
Has been an active advocate of
humane immigration policies as a member of the
House’s Judiciary Committee. She
has met with working mothers, with Latino
Families that demand a
comprehensive immigration reform and stop the separation
of families.
The Central American community
based organizations have been serving the immigrant community for the last 30
years, and legalizing over 250,000 people.
